I Thought My Boyfriend Was Planning a Proposal — Until I Accidentally Found His Real Plan

For weeks, my boyfriend Ryan had been acting strangely secretive. He hid his phone whenever I walked into the room, took mysterious calls outside, and kept disappearing late at night claiming he was “working on something important.” Normally, I would have assumed the worst immediately, but my best friend convinced me he was probably planning a proposal. Honestly, I wanted to believe her. After four years together, I thought we were finally heading toward a future together.

Then one afternoon, Ryan left his laptop open on the kitchen table while showering upstairs.

I wasn’t trying to snoop.

At least not intentionally.

But an email notification appeared on the screen with the subject line:

“Everything is ready for Saturday.”

Curious, I clicked it.

What I found had absolutely nothing to do with engagement rings or romantic surprises.

The emails described flight details, fake documents, cash transfers, and instructions involving another woman named Vanessa. My chest tightened painfully as I realized Ryan wasn’t planning a proposal at all.

He was planning to disappear.

And according to the messages, he intended to leave the country within forty-eight hours without telling anyone including me.
